Bride Wendy's Dream Wedding Day at Dove Treehouse, Ramside Hall, Durham - A Real Wedding.
On Saturday, January 5th, 2025, just after the New Year’s celebrations, I had the privilege of doing Wedding makeup for Wendy as she prepared to say 'I do' to her partner Cam in the stunning and unique Dove Treehouse at Ramside Hall in Durham on their dream wedding day. While I’ve had the pleasure of doing wedding makeup in the Treehouse before, this was my first time witnessing the Treehouse Wedding ceremony come to life. The transformation of the gorgeous lounge into a jaw-dropping ceremony space left me speechless (and emotional)—it was absolutely perfect. The setting was everything you could imagine for a North East bride’s dream wedding—romantic, intimate, and utterly unforgettable. I met Wendy just a week before her Big day for her trial makeup at her home in Durham, where I met (and fell in love with) her little doodle dog Monte, who was going to be the ring bearer at her and Cam's wedding. Wendy wanted a makeup that looked glam but not over the top, and certainly not overly made up. We tried airbrush and HD Makeup up Forever and she was happy with the look she had chosen. I reassured Wendy that, as always, the makeup would look even more stunning on the big day. As the wedding photo above shows, she truly radiated with a natural glow. We chatted about everything and her honeymoon, which was a BIG secret. On the day, I enhanced her makeup with a subtle touch of Dior Backstage glow on her cheekbones to catch the light perfectly, while keeping the rest of her makeup matte. Wendy also opted for half lashes, which subtly enhanced her eye shape without being too noticeable. Doesn’t she look beautiful?
On the big day, like every bride, Wendy was understandably nervous. All the planning and sleepless nights had led to this magical moment, surrounded by her friends and family in what could only be described as a fairytale setting. With its wrap-around balcony overlooking a wooded golf course, it was the perfect backdrop for guests to celebrate the marriage of two truly special people.
Paula, I wanted to say how glad I am that I chose you and how lovely & down to earth you are, the short notice for our wedding didn’t phase you at all and even when we ran over slightly with my hair, you were so calm. I was so grateful that you helped me into my dress and fastened my sandals for me as I was starting to panic I wouldn’t be ready on time. I had been totally fine leading up to the day and was looking forward to everything but I got a bit of the wobbles and the tears came but I controlled it as to not spoil my beautiful makeup . I got so many compliments on the day and after when people have seen the photos and I couldn’t have wished for a better person to do my makeup...so thank you again. Wendy.
I caught up with Wendy after her wedding to tell me how it all went and where the Big surprise Honeymoon had taken her.
Why did you Choose The Dove Treehouse at Ramside Hall?
We love lodges/log cabin with hot tub breaks away so was perfect choice for us, also dog friendly so we could have Monte (our toy cockapoo) as the ring bearer! The Dove Treehouse was perfect for our guests of 21 friends and family, but it can comfortably accommodate up to 40 guests.
Any advice for would be brides thinking about getting married at The Dove Treehouse, Ramside Hall?
I would definitely recommend staying the night before the wedding as it would just feel too rushed as only able to access the lodge from 3 pm and then being married by 5 pm! Stay the night after also…. if affordable to fully enjoy Dove treehouse and make good use of the hot tub, wish we had done that as you need to leave by 11 am the next morning, however we did enjoy complimentary use of the spa facilities for the full day following the wedding.

Wendy, you must tell me about the surprise Honeymoon - I've been dying to know since the Wedding day?
Cam had booked Barbados for our honeymoon which was absolutely fantastic and I didn’t find out until we were waiting at the gate at Heathrow…something caught my eye and I looked out of the window to see the bus pulling up to take us to the plane …with ‘Barbados’ sign on it.
